This Lens was my first foray into the world of augmented reality development, and I’ve been in 💖 with the craft ever since. I shakily extruded a 3D heart mesh in Blender and animated the Lens using a tween script that reacts when the user raises their eyebrows.

Putting my own spin on a roulette Lens, I wanted to create a paper fortune teller in AR that brought out the nostalgia of creating your own paper fortune teller to pass the time with friends in school. This Lens was the first time I used texture painting to create a handmade visual effect. It also uses a complex system of multiple tween scripts that allow for multiple selection points within the Lens experience.

Inspired by the iconic best friends forever ring from SpongeBob SquarePants, I created a 3D hand-tracking Lens that enables users to try on the ring themselves. Then, using behavior scripts, I was able to trigger the ring’s motion when a user starts recording to encourage content capture and sharing.
This Lens was featured in Lenslist’s July 2023 Lens Selections, a curated list of innovative AR on Snapchat.

It’s giving Mike Wazowski — if he slayed. As you can see 👁, my 3D mesh sculpting has improved compared to the hearts at the top of this page. I sculpted the eyeball and lashes, added blend shapes, and hooked up my 3D creation to an expression script so that it blinks in real time with the user’s blinks… er, winks?
